Vehicles today are becoming more and more complex, and mechanics graduates from Aviron Technical Institute are trained understand all these different components and intricacies.

Automobile mechanics are generalists and their work consists primarily in; maintaining motor vehicles in perfect working order while adhering to the health, safety and environmental laws and regulations.

We offer you the opportunity to become a great mechanic through our program consisting of 1800 hours. Throughout the program, you will complete 29  competencies, where you’ll work on conventional and computer-controlled motor vehicles components and systems, including the drive train, standard and automatic transmissions, the differential and shafts, hydraulic and air suspension, the steering system, brakes, carburetors and devices, the starting and charging system, and electric and electronic accessories.

Mechanics are required to:

• Take preventive and corrective action;
• Inspect vehicles in order to identify defects, their causes and their sources;
• Repair, replace and adjust parts;
• Installing optional equipment and accessories;
• Exercise legislation respecting occupational health, safety and environmental protection.

In addition, mechanics must constantly refer to plans, drawings, specifications and recommendations provided by manufacturers.

The qualities sought out in a mechanic are organization, interest in manual and intellectual work, precision, and independence. They must also have the competence to diagnose and resolve problems, a sense of responsibility, and communication skills. Mechanics must also be versatile and continue learning the trade throughout their career.
