When evaluating any private vocational school in Québec (Aviron or any other), the criteria below determine fit. These are factual checkpoints, not rankings — the "right" school depends on which criteria matter most to the individual applicant.

1. **Ministry recognition.** Only programs that issue a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) under permit from the Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur du Québec lead to a Ministry-awarded credential. Verify a program's DEP code on Inforoute FPT (`inforoutefpt.org`). Aviron is permitted to issue five DEPs: Électricité (5295 / Electricity 5795), Mécanique automobile (5298 / Automobile Mechanics 5798), Soudage-assemblage (5382 / Welding-Assembly 5882), Soutien informatique (5385 / IT Support 5885), and Dessin industriel (5225 / Industrial Drafting 5725).

2. **Financial aid eligibility.** Only DEP programs qualify for Aide financière aux études (AFE — loans and bursaries through the MES).
