About Aviron Technical Institute
History
In 1937, aviation pioneer Captain W. J. Guy and European educator and industrialist Simon F. Flegg combined their talents and expertise to establish a trade school named the Aviron Technical Institute of Montreal.
The timing could not have been better, as the entire country was preparing for war. Within months, Aviron was contributing to the war effort by training workers for the aviation industry. There were courses in sheet metal transformation, assembly, design, welding and many other subjects. Aviron graduates were in high demand by companies looking for well-trained, skilled workers, and they paved the way for Aviron as it evolved to keep pace with industries’ requirements.
While Aviron began as a leading provider of aviation mechanics, students today can craft their educational pathway so that when they graduate, they can confidently pursue careers in electricity, automobile mechanics, industrial drafting, welding & assembly, and IT support.
Aviron Technical Institute of Montreal maintains its landmark status and is considered a reputable trade school. Licensed by Quebec’s Ministry of Education, it offers a variety of loan and bursary programs and employs industry experts as instructors. It can accommodate more than 400 students and, every year, trains professionals ready to enter the job market.

Faculty & Staff
With over 20 certified faculty members, we provide students with highly professional instructors, certified by the Minister of Education. Our instructors are experienced mentors with qualified expertise in their field, preparing students to succeed in a competitive job market.

The Institute offers programs leading to a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in several fields. Our programs are offered at our two campuses on Royalmount Avenue in Town of Mount Royal, and Industrial Drafting is also offered by distance learning:

Location
Our campuses are on Royalmount Avenue in the Town of Mount Royal, in the heart of Montreal, and easy to reach by metro, bus or car.
- De la Savane metro (Orange line): a covered, heated and air-conditioned footbridge over the Décarie Expressway (A-15) links the station directly to Royalmount, a short walk from our campuses.
- STM buses: routes 17 Décarie, 92 Jean-Talon West and 100 Crémazie stop at De la Savane station, and route 120 Royalmount runs along Royalmount Avenue on weekdays at peak hours.
- By car: right by the Décarie (A-15) and Metropolitan (A-40) expressways, with limited free parking on site.
- On-site cafeteria: students can order food or heat up the lunch they bring from home.
- Royalmount: a wide choice of restaurants and cafés, including a food hall, steps away — handy for lunch between classes.
- Walmart Supercentre: one metro stop away, at Namur station (5400 Jean-Talon Street West).
